The Sustainable Living Festival has been running for 19 years and is the largest festival of its kind in Australia. 2018’s theme is ‘climate crunch’, with the festival’s program specifically focused on the urgent need for safe climate action. Each year the Sustainable Living Festival presents over 300 events celebrating sustainability. Expect a packed program filled with local and international talks, forums, workshops, film, art and design events. If you’re interested in being part of the program, you can apply now, with applications closing at the end of November.

Aranya Agricultural Alternatives is the happy host of the 13th International Permaculture Convergence (IPC India 2017) from 25 November to 2 December 2017 in Hyderabad. This event will guide and inspire more than 1200 participants from over 70 countries. Individuals, farmers, policy makers and researchers sharing a strong interest in sustainable farming practices and other initiatives contributing to sustainable livelihoods will come together for this diverse and engaging program.

• The 2-day conference is open to all and will be packed with presentations, workshops, panel discussions and a lot of cultural exchange.

• The 5-day convergence presents a chance for Permaculture Design Course Certificate graduates to connect deeply with each other and the theme of the event.

It is a residential, experiential learning forum where the program emerges from the contributions of participants. Networking, knowledge sharing, hands-on practices and celebrations will be at the heart of this event. The main theme is ‘Towards healthy societies’. Change is already happening! We’re proud to announce the inaugural Pip Permie Awards! There are two awards, both of which will be presented at APC14. The Best Permie Project award is open to projects which are current, create positive change and demonstrate the permaculture ethics of earth care, people care and fair share. The Permie of the Year award is for a permaculture practitioner working to create positive change in the world. They need to demonstrate the permaculture ethics of earth care, people care and fair share in their work. The project will be awarded $250, with the individual receiving a Pip Award Pack (which includes garden tools, books and other useful items), valued at $250.

15 – 19 April 2018

The Australian Permaculture Convergence (APC14) kicks off with the ACT Permaculture Festival at Canberra City Farm on the Sunday, followed by four days of connecting and learning at ACT’s Greenhills Centre. Tours, workshops and courses will also be held across South East NSW.

A feature of the program is locally sourced, ethically raised food and drinks, with the organisers working with local farmers to achieve this. And as APC14 is being held during the school holidays, a children’s program is being planned.

This is an opportunity for everyone to share their permaculture journeys, research and ideas, and have fruitful discussions about the future directions of permaculture in the world. You can register now at
